Course summary

This MSc programme combines principles from mechanics, electronics, control, computers, automation, and robotics to design, manufacture and test smart and cognitive systems and devices, that use a combination of these disciplines. This will enable you to gain a depth of advanced knowledge and critical awareness of the most up-to-date practices and theories in mechatronics and computer systems engineering. The postgraduate programme will arm you with all you need to be able to create your own mechatronic systems that are smart and cognitive, developing them from imagination through to reality. Assessment method

You'll be assessed through a written exam, laboratory-based coursework, and a dissertation or a major project. The written exam will be to test your theoretical knowledge and understanding. Coursework will assess your practical skills, while the dissertation will be for applying learning outcomes to a project related to design and development with applications in the industry.


Entry requirements

Accepted Qualifications Bachelor's degree BEng with minimum Second Class (2:2) or BSc with minimum Upper Second Class (2:1) in Engineering. English Language requirements Overall IELTS 6.0 with minimum 6.0 in writing and speaking, and 5.5 in listening and reading(or recognised equivalent) If you do not meet the academic English language requirements for your course, you may be eligible to enrol onto a pre-sessional English course. The length of the course will depend on your current level of English and the requirements for your degree programme. We offer a 5-week and an 10-week pre-sessional course.
