Course summary
This Foundation degree develops the skills and awareness to practice in a variety of settings that support children from 0-12-years. The course is designed to provide a bridge within the health and social care sector where play support, play work and play therapy are used (for example, play workers in health care). This course will also enable students to work therapeutically in educational contexts and may support existing staff who wish to extend their skills. This degree can also provide a suitable progression to Honours degree and then towards a post-graduate qualification in play therapy as recognised by the British Association of Play Therapists (BAPT). Work may be in the statutory sector or community/voluntary settings. If students already work in health, social care (as in family support) or education, this award will enhance their existing skills and thus career progression. The Early Years Educator status is a supplementary pathway to the FdA Children’s Health Play and Wellbeing. It will run alongside the course and promote the support of a mentor and setting in the Early Years sector. A detailed booklet will capture your developing knowledge and growing experience in the Early Years Foundation Stage framework enabling you to work in ratio in the sector. This programme is not open to students requiring a Student visa to study in the UK.
