Course summary

Are you looking to transition into the fast-moving world of tech? From climate modelling and personalised healthcare, to robotics, financial systems, and AI-driven technologies, computing technologies are transforming every aspect of modern life. Designed for graduates from non-computing disciplines, this conversion programme provides the essential skills and knowledge needed to enter and thrive in the fast-paced world of computing and digital technology. With a strong emphasis on programming, artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, and cybersecurity, this course gives you the knowledge and hands-on experience to build a successful career in today’s digital economy. Gain theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in Computer Science This conversion programme offers a comprehensive and accelerated introduction to core areas of computer science, while enabling you to explore emerging technologies and industry trends. You’ll gain both the theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience to manage complex digital systems. This includes building practical coding skills using tools such as Anaconda NumPy, pandas, and PyTorch and mastering programming paradigms, including procedural, functional and object-oriented programming (OOP). The programme uses a block teaching model, delivered in 3-week blocks, allowing for deep immersion in each topic. This approach means you'll focus on one subject at a time, enhancing retention, comprehension, and the ability to apply what you've learned effectively. By dedicating full attention to each area of study, you'll gain a more thorough understanding of complex concepts and develop skills that are immediately applicable in the real world. A key feature of this course is the Collaborative Project, where you’ll work in a multidisciplinary team to tackle a real-world challenge provided by one of our industry partners. You’ll also apply your new technical skills to develop creative, data-driven solutions for issues with social, technological, or global significance through the Grand Challenges module. This experience doesn’t just build technical expertise, it sharpens your communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills, all of which are essential for a career in tech. The programme is delivered by Loughborough University London's Institute for Digital Technologies, a leading centre for interdisciplinary research on AI systems, autonomous systems, blockchain, cybersecurity, wireless communications and sensing, the Internet of Things, digital twins, sports and healthcare technologies, and financial technologies. You'll benefit from teaching that is research-led and closely aligned with current industry demands. Why study Computer Science in London? London is one of the world’s leading technology hubs, making it the ideal location to pursue a postgraduate degree in computer science. With its thriving tech scene, innovative companies, and cutting-edge research, the city offers unparalleled opportunities for learning, networking, and professional growth. By choosing to study with us, you will have the opportunity to engage with industry, collaborate on real-world projects, and build a strong professional network as you study.
