Course summary

The challenges facing engineering leaders of the future are immense. Cost, margin and 'value for money' pressures continue to grow and the pace of technology development continues to increase. Exploitation of the new design space enabled by advanced manufacturing methods such as additive layer manufacturing (ALM) is becoming a key advantage for firms, and there is a growing recognition that engineering functional performance strongly correlates to a company's overall rates of return. There is a shortage of professionals who possess both the outstanding technical and management skills in equal measure; this course has been designed to create the engineering leaders of the future by addressing the core issue head-on. MEM with Industry If you take the 'With Industry' option you will have an industrial placement to put your newly acquired skills into practice. You will complete the taught part of the course with exams in May or June, then undertake three to nine months of paid full-time work in an industrial placement, returning in May/June of your second year to complete your project over the summer. This conforms with UK border agency rules for international students.
