Course summary

BA Textile Design at Central Saint Martins explores traditional, digital, and experimental approaches to textile design, with three specialist pathways: Print, Knit, and Weave. The course encourages you to develop an individual design philosophy, informed by a deep understanding of historical, cultural, technical, and sustainable practices. As part of the Jewellery, Textiles and Materials programme, you will learn to thrive in an industry that demands innovation, collaboration, and sustainability. Through project work, technical workshops, and staff expertise, you will explore a range of professional contexts, building a strong foundation in textile design. The first year of the course introduces you to Knit, Print and Weave, dye and digital processes, before selecting one to specialise in during your second year. This process encourages flexibility and expertise, allowing you to become a well-rounded and adaptable designer.
