Course summary

BSc (Hons) Animal Management builds on the knowledge you’ll have developed through studying FdSc Animal Management, linking in content relating to all elements of the animal management industry, including the management of both captive and wild animals. The course has a research focus, with modules specifically designed to prepare you for postgraduate study. Science Communication helps develop communication and organisation skills, while Research Innovation allows you to explore research concepts and examine chosen topics in a comprehensive way. These modules complement the year-long Research Project module, enabling you to develop and implement an original research project within the animal management sector. You’ll have the freedom to design your own project, covering topics such as nutrition, health, conservation, and welfare. In addition to research-focused modules, you’ll focus on current issues facing the sector. Anthrozoology and Global Environments are two complementary modules that aim to promote abstract considerations for you to explore and tackle real-world issues such as human-wildlife conflict and climate change. These modules will be underpinned by content covered in the Biodiversity and Conservation module in the second year of FdSc Animal Management. This course has been developed in collaboration with a selection of animal experts and employers to provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and behaviours for those intending to seek employment across the animal management sector. If you wish to study and work with animals in a range of contexts, this is the ideal course for you. This course is taught at East Durham College’s Houghall Campus in Durham.
