Course summary

This exciting new BA (Hons) Top-up degree is highly innovative. Students will have the opportunity to work with people with similar interests and aims in this new and exciting area of study, whilst working on knowledge exchange across Esports, education, sport, health, physical activity, coaching and health. Delivered using our sector-leading Esports facilities, students will develop range of knowledge and skills that should help them embark on an exciting career in an emerging and rapidly expanding global industry. The programme builds on existing skills and knowledge and supports the development of new and transferable employability skills. No two days are the same and students will focus on skills development and practical application of knowledge using our strong links and network of partnerships regionally, nationally and internationally. The course is highly inter-disciplinary in nature, meaning that students experience a range of learning and teaching methods, assessments and potential opportunities for further study and employment upon completion.

Modules

The list below sets out how the credit has been assigned across the mandatory units. All units in this qualification are mandatory: Planning Interventions in Education Applied Esports Performance Professional Context Project – based on own study interests in a chosen area of the Esports industry Exercise and Health in the Digital World Dissertation – double-weighted research project based on own study interests

Assessment method

Assessment will be varied and devised by tutors to best meet the needs of students and the course with most units assessed via coursework. Coursework assessments could take any form but are likely to include digital resources, reports, presentations, professional discussions, research and group activities as well as practical assessment, evaluation and reflection.

Qualification requirements

Students will need to have fully completed an appropriate Level 5 qualification in a relevant/associated subject area. Potential students will be required to undertake an informal discussion with the teaching team.
