Course summary

This is a Connected Degree Portsmouth is the only University in the UK with the flexibility to choose when to do an optional paid placement or self-employed year. Either take a placement in your third year, or finish your studies first and complete a placement in your fourth year. You can decide if and when to take a placement after you've started your course. Overview Develop the professional skills you need to become a modern digital marketer on this CIM and IDM accredited BA (Hons) Digital Marketing degree. You’ll learn to create digital marketing strategies for any organisation, and stand out to employers with a varied portfolio of marketing projects and live client work after you graduate. Explore the creative and analytical aspects of digital marketing, combine hands-on client experience with detailed marketing theory, and use industry tools such as the Adobe suite, Google Analytics, Hubspot and social media dashboards throughout the course. You’ll learn to communicate with customers through digital platforms, and how to measure the performance of your communications with data and analytics. After your first year, you’ll choose specialist topics to focus on such as advertising or product development. If you decide to complete an industrial placement year, you’ll graduate with a year of workplace experience as well as your degree knowledge. This paid placement takes place after your second or third year of study, and you’ll benefit from support from the University Careers and Employability service as well as our Placement Club. You’ll hear from industry experts and guest speakers throughout the course, and graduate ready to make an impact in the industry. Course highlights

Assessment method

You’ll be assessed through: projects presentations group work live client work examinations multiple-choice tests essays portfolio work You’ll be able to test your skills and knowledge informally before you do assessments that count towards your final mark. You can get feedback on all practice and formal assessments so you can improve in the future. The way you’re assessed may depend on the modules you select. As a guide, students on this course last year were typically assessed as follows: Year 1 students: 35% by written exams, 3% by practical exams and 62% by coursework Year 2 students: 6% by written exams, 10% by practical exams and 84% by coursework Year 3 students: 17% by written exams, 4% by practical exams and 79% by coursework
