Course summary
The course is for you if you would like to work as a technician and take further steps to becoming an engineer in manufacturing. The course has been developed in consultation with local industry, and combines theoretical engineering with the focus being the applications of putting the theory into practice. The HNC provides a programme of study over a range of disciplines to help you develop skills to progress your career through employment or further education at HND/degree level.

Assessment method
You will be assessed through a range of integrated assignments, case studies, projects and tests which are planned throughout the year.

Qualification requirements
You must have achieved an appropriate technician or craft qualification at Level 3 or similar, and a good standard of literacy and numeracy skills. The most common eligible qualifications include A Levels, BTEC Extended Diplomas/National Diplomas and Access to HE Diplomas. Non-standard applicants for both full and part time modes of study will be considered based on individual merit and industrial experience relevant to the programme.
