Course summary

The HNC/HND Mechanical Engineering for England (HTQ) will provide you at level 4, with the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to be a qualified engineer and either progress in your current role or onto further study. The Level 4 units lay the foundation of learning by providing a broad introduction to the engineering sector as well as a focused introduction to latest advancements in engineering. This develops and strengthens core skills while preparing students for more specialist subjects at Level 5 or to enter employment with the qualities necessary for job roles that require some personal responsibility. You will gain a wide range of scientific and engineering knowledge linked to practical skills obtained through research, independent study, directed study and workplace scenarios. You will undertake vocational activities that will help you to develop behaviours (the attitudes and approaches required for a competence) and transferable skills. This programme has been designed to develop you as professional, self-reflecting individuals who are able to meet the demands of employers in the engineering sector and adapt to challenges in a constant changing world. The academic elements of these courses are taught in the bespoke laboratories and workshops at the recently-redeveloped South West Skills Campus in Weston.
