Course summary

Our innovative online master’s in music production and songwriting will bring out the best in you as a contemporary artist, and help you keep reinventing your musical approach long after you've graduated. MA Songwriting and Music Production covers core skills like music production, mixing, songwriting and composition, and elective modules that will give you genre-specific tutorials and key lyric writing tips. On this music production course there is support for marketing, promotion, music business and other key skills needed to build a strong career. Tailor the course to your needs as an artist, define your own pathway, and finish your studies primed to launch your own career in songwriting and music production. If you are looking for either a master’s in songwriting or a master’s in music production, this course will combine the best of both and help guide you towards a creative and fulfilling career. Modules

Assessment method

For the vast majority of the course, you will be entirely graded on your practical ability. All assignments come with written write-ups where you will detail your approach. Each module will have at least one 'Formative' assignment, which is considered research and practice for the final 'Summative' assignment, which will be your final grade for that module. All Summative assignments are marked at least twice.


Entry requirements

Applicants are required to have successfully completed an undergraduate degree in any subject. A limited number of places are available for non-degree holders, under the 'Recognition of Prior Learning' application method. We also require applicants to complete a short application task, and potentially submit a portfolio of work depending on the course. All information can be found on the course page.
