You will explore the theory behind criminology, crime reduction and community safety, emergency planning, substance misuse culture, and justice and punishment. You will also learn about managing public sector finance, the psychology of human behaviour, and personal and professional development. Progression Opportunities The purpose of BTEC Higher Nationals in Public Services is to develop students as professional, self-reflecting individuals that are able to meet the demands of employers in the public services sector and adapt to a constantly changing world. The objectives of the BTEC Higher Nationals in Public Services is to equip students with public service skills, knowledge and the understanding necessary to achieve high performance in the global public services environment. The course provides education and training for a range of careers in public services, including, for example, local government, Civil Service, public administration, the armed forces, police force, fire and rescue services, ambulance (not paramedic), prison service and the charity and voluntary sector.
