You will also study a range of modules which will develop both your subject knowledge and your understanding of the art of teaching. The pedagogic and professional studies modules include learning theory, child development, behaviour management, classroom management, Special Educational Needs (SEN) and English as an additional language (EAL), giving you a solid theoretical grounding for working with children, ensuring you are best able to support their learning in practice. You will cover all of the National Curriculum subjects on this degree. In English, for example, you will look at language development, the teaching of reading and writing; in maths, developing mathematical understanding will be explored. Our BA Primary Education degree allows you to choose from a wide range of subjects to specialise in, developing over the course of three years your knowledge and skills to teach your chosen specialism across the primary age range. In addition to your professional placements and university based studies, there is also the opportunity to spend time abroad on a trip organised by the School of Education, as well as to go on field trips, visits to museums and art galleries to explore learning beyond the classroom, and how to pass these experiences on to your pupils.
