Course summary
The Pearson BTEC Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Computing for England offers students one general pathway and five specialist pathways, designed to support progression to relevant occupational areas or degree-level study. Employability skills (sometimes referred to as transferable skills) are vital in increasing students’ career prospects and they contribute to their personal development. BTEC Higher Nationals in Computing for England support students in developing the key skills, qualities and strengths that employers are looking for. We divide employability skills into five main categories. ● Problem-solving skills ● Independent skills ● Interpersonal skills ● Commercial skills Students also benefit from opportunities to carry out deeper learning; they can make connections between different study units and select areas of interest for detailed study. Assessment method
The programme is assessed through submission of written reports and practical solutions such as programming, database development and web applications. Formative assessment is primarily developmental in nature and is designed to give feedback to students on their performance and progress, with support. Summative assessment is given where students are provided with the assignment grades contributing towards the overall unit grade.
