Course summary

This programme is designed and delivered by Lancaster Medical School and Lancaster Management School’s Centre for Training and Development (CETAD). It has been designed to meet the General Medical Council’s (GMC) strategic aim that all those involved in the development and education of doctors should be competent in the principles of medical education. It will:

  • Develop and consolidate your knowledge of the core principles of medical education.
  • Enhance your skills as a medical educator.
  • Evidence your competency in line with the Academy of Medical Educator’s learning domains.
The MSc includes development in specialist aspects of medical education through modules and a work-based medical education project.


Entry requirements

Applicants should be working in roles involved in the education and training of undergraduate and/or postgraduate doctors at all levels. English Language Requirements We may ask you to provide a recognised English language qualification, dependent upon your nationality and where you have studied previously. We normally require an IELTS (Academic) Test with an overall score of at least 6.5, and a minimum of 5.5 in each element of the test. We also consider other English language qualifications.
