Course summary
Veterinary Nursing is a major specialism of Myerscough College. Students who successfully complete the Foundation Degree Veterinary Nursing are automatically accredited with the RCVS Veterinary Nursing Certificate – without the need to sit the RCVS exams. This means that Myerscough students progress directly onto the RCVS VN register, receiving their RVN certificate and badge at graduation. This course is not accepting places for 2024 year of entry and the content and previously published entry criteria is likely to change. Applicants are advised to contact the University Centre Directly before submitting an application.

You are required to demonstrate both experience of working with animals and a sound appreciation of the role of a veterinary nurse by supplying evidence of a minimum of 10 days (70 hours) current work experience in one or more UK-based small animal veterinary practice(s). Current is defined in this instance as preferably within the last twelve months. Important - We will require evidence of your work experience, stating hours and dates. This should be emailed from the practice manager/head nurse/manager directly to [email protected] as soon as you have completed your work experience.

Student Veterinary Nursing uniform – approximately £70 (for 2 x trousers and 2 x tunics);

books - approximately £120 (at least a core VN textbook and veterinary dictionary recommended);
Human First Aid Course (optional) – approximately £45;
nursing equipment (stethoscope etc) - up to £85 (how much is spent above or below this £85 mark is up to the student and additional items are available to order alongside uniforms).
