The MSc International Marketing is for students who want to develop a career in businesses that operate globally. You’ll gain the marketing knowledge and skills to be an effective and responsible manager in dynamic marketing environments, equipping you to meet the varying needs of businesses while growing your network of international contacts. How You Learn The course develops the specialist knowledge, understanding and skills associated with the professional and managerial functions of international marketing.  You’ll gain a thorough understanding of marketing theories and how to apply them to a real-world context. These include international marketing strategy, contemporary communication planning and consumer behaviour in dynamic environments – with an emphasis on digital marketing theory and application. You’ll work with peers on a marketing simulation exercise while developing your professional skills with a team of tutors who have a wealth of professional marketing and academic experience. Our teaching strategies are grounded in contemporary academic research, with a strong emphasis on the practical challenges faced by global organisations. Key themes In international marketing, organisations navigate different environmental challenges in diverse ways. The curriculum themes and learning materials therefore represent a range of scenarios and perspectives. The teaching focuses on the current real-world global issues that impact on marketing decision making. You’ll explore international consumer behaviour and approaches to international strategic marketing evaluation, planning and decision making – as well as contemporary marketing communication planning. You’ll study the changing nature of international markets and how this impacts on marketing planning and decision making. We’ll prepare you for the diversity and complexity which accompanies a globally integrated and internationally focused marketing environment. You’ll gain essential skills in marketing management, environmental analysis and leadership – learning how to present information and critically evaluate issues as you collaborate and problem-solve in teams.  Applied learning We think the best way to learn something is to do it in the real world. This guides everything we do at Sheffield Business School. You’ll develop your employability skills and learn how to be successful as an international business and marketing manager. Live projects You’ll develop practical managerial skills by interacting with a company. Communicating with a company enhances your business awareness – a particular benefit to international students in terms of business engagement – and develops group work skills. You’ll also self-reflect and develop skills that underpin your future professional development. Normally you need one of the following: an honours degree or equivalent professional qualifications. In exceptional circumstances we consider candidates without formal qualifications who demonstrate the necessary experience, intellect and motivation.

Additional fee information

Our tuition fee for UK students on full-time undergraduate degree courses in 2025/26 is £9,535 per year. These fees are regulated by the UK government and therefore subject to change in future years. During your placement year you will pay a reduced fee of £1,200. If you are studying an undergraduate course, postgraduate pre-registration course or postgraduate research course over more than one academic year then your tuition fees may increase in subsequent years in line with Government regulations or UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) published fees.
