Industrial Design (with placement year) at Loughborough University - UCAS

Course summary

Our Industrial Design BA (Hons) will equip you with the knowledge, understanding and skills to develop future facing products through embracing creative exploration and independent judgement. Designed for students who are already confident in their career trajectory towards becoming an Industrial Designer, this is a great option for those who want to develop specialist skills and sensitivity in the creative form and aesthetics of contemporary and future manufactured products. The course embraces creative exploration and the use of a wide range of skills and technologies within design practice. It covers creative ideation, form development and product styling, usability and interaction, ergonomics and human factors, and also the production and use of prototypes as a part of the design process. BA Industrial Design shares a common first and second year with BA Design, exposing students to a range of contemporary and future-facing design content including digital design, design futures, and the design of experiences and spaces. The distinct difference is that instead of having flexibility to select their design specialism after the first two years of study, students will be fixed to the Industrial Design specialism.
