Course summary
The Professional Graduate Certificate in Education and Training is a professional teacher education programme that will qualify you to teach in the post-14 compulsory education and training sector. This includes further education colleges, adult and community settings and training providers. The course is designed to meet the Education and Training Foundation (ETF) Professional Standards and will equip you with a toolkit to teach adults and young people. The qualification is open to those who hold an under-graduate degree (2:2 or above) in their intended subject specialism.

Assessment method
You are assessed by a combination of written assessments, reflective teaching journals, teaching portfolios, and observations of your teaching practice. At the end of the year there is a compulsory (assessed) student conference where you work with fellow subject specialists. These two days are compulsory. If you are already in employment you must make arrangements to attend.
Qualified teacher status (QTS)
To work as a teacher at a state school in England or Wales, you will need to achieve qualified teacher status (QTS). This is offered on this course for the following level:

Qualification requirements
:You must have achieved an honours degree, 2:2 or higher in a relevant subject and GCSE grade 4 (C) or equivalent in English. An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS check) from the last three years is required, from the point of enrolment. You must also have had a teaching practice placement that offers you a minimum of 120 hours over the course of one year.
