Course summary

This programme is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to access and progress to degree level study or employment in the media sector. The vocational orientation of the programme is achieved via an applied and contextualised approach to learning. It provides an opportunity for those who have an interest in media to explore, develop and test their creativity within a qualification structure that is stimulating and demanding and provides a supportive transition from general to more specialised study. The programme also encourages the development of lifelong learning skills and instils the values of global citizenship.

Year 1: Professional Practice in the Digital Economy (15 Credit), Innovation & Digital Transformation (15 Credit), Cyber Security (15 Credit), Programming (15 Credit), Big Data & Visualisation (15 Credit), Cloud Fundamentals (15 Credit), Website Design & Development (15 Credit), Management in the Digital Economy (15 Credit) Year 2: Business Intelligence (15 Credit), Internet of Things (15 Credit), Emerging Technologies (15 Credit), Planning Social Media Campaigns (15 Credit), Digital Marketing (15 Credit), Customer Value Management (15 Credit), Digital Sustainability (15 Credit), Pitching and Negotiating Skills (15 Credit).

Assessment method

Assessment is both summative and formative. Formative assessments will take place at several intervals during the course. Feedback, both formal and informal, is maximised throughout the programme and may take the form of individual tutorials, presentations, essays, portfolios, and module assessments. Students are given regular feedback/feed-forward through interaction in the classroom, and/or via virtual learning environment (VLE)
