Course summary

This innovative online programme will provide you with knowledge and understanding in the exciting field of stem cell biology and regeneration. You will be guided from the origins of this field through to its application (and potential applications) in treating human disease, covering the latest tools and technologies available for study in this area. Programme content is delivered by researchers active in the field, giving you the opportunity to engage with the latest breakthroughs. Lectures, online discussions, assessments and examinations are delivered over the internet. This offers you more flexibility than traditional campus-based courses as you can study in your own environment at your own pace. This online-learning model, together with a part-time study option, makes the programme particularly appealing if you want to combine full-time employment with study.

Entry requirements

An upper second-class honours degree or international equivalent in Sciences including Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Cell Biology, Physiology, Immunology, Biomedical Sciences, Microbiology, Developmental Biology, Neuroscience, Pharmacology, Health Sciences. Medicine (including Medical, Veterinary and Dental qualifications). For applicants who are currently completing a degree, we understand that their final grade may be higher than the interim grades or module/unit grades they achieve during their studies. We will consider applicants whose interim grades are currently slightly lower than the programme's entry requirements. We may make these applicants an aspirational offer. This offer would be at the standard level, so the applicant would need to achieve the standard entry requirements by the end of their degree. Specific module requirements may still apply. We will consider applicants whose grades are slightly lower than the programme's entry requirements, if they have at least one of the following: - evidence of a minimum of three months work experience in Professional experience in research and development and biomedical / clinical Scientists - working in cell biology labs, biotechnology or pharmcueticals. Professional experience in research and development and professional experience in clinical trials also considered. - a relevant postgraduate qualification. If this is the case, applicants should include their CV (curriculum vitae / résumé) when they apply, showing details of their relevant work experience and/or qualifications. Students on this programme usually undertake a literature review or similar for their dissertation, but it is possible for students to complete an optional lab-based project. Bench fees apply only to students who come to Bristol for 6-8 weeks to complete research project unit CSSBM2001. This must be arranged in consultation with a supervisor and project unit lead, we cannot guarantee that students will be able to take on an optional lab-based project.
