This course focuses on the core aspects of sports business. Through practice-based learning you’ll build up your existing experience with the knowledge and contacts you need. On this course you’ll improve your employability skills and develop specialist knowledge of the global sports industry. Applied learning Work placement You’ll have the option to complete a 12-week work project, receiving support and advice from a mentor in a client organisation, as well as a member of academic staff. We’ll use our network of local, regional, national and international employers to help secure you a challenging and fulfilling experience. Recent clients have included Formula 1, Gfinity, the International Olympic Committee, Virtus, FutbolJobs, Sheffield United FC and Sheffield Wednesday FC. Live projects As part of your studies, you’ll undertake an industry-based research project – working with sport organisations to solve problems or explore potential market opportunities. Networking opportunities The course has plenty of chances to build your network – with superb industry ties and opportunities for work placements and research projects. We also have an established and strong graduate network on LinkedIn, which you’ll gain access to once you join the course.

Entry requirements

Normally a first degree 2:2 or above in a sport-related or business and management-related subject OR a first degree 2:2 or above in an unrelated subject, but with experience of working in sport or general business and management. We welcome enquiries from those who have substantial management experience but who do not have the normal entry requirements. We may invite you for an interview to discuss your particular background, experience and qualifications. Our aim is to ensure you can achieve success on this masters course, but please contact us if you wish to discuss your own concerns. You may also be able to claim credit points which can reduce the amount of time it takes to complete your qualification at Sheffield Hallam. Through accreditation of prior learning (APL), students may claim entry with credit or exemptions on the basis of their existing qualifications, knowledge and experience.


English language requirements

If English is not your first language you will need an IELTS score of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in all skills, or a recognised equivalent. If your level of English language is currently below IELTS 6.0 we recommend you consider an appropriate Sheffield Hallam University Pre-sessional English course which will enable you to achieve the required level of English.
