Learn to lead projects to success in any industry. Gain a fully APM-accredited qualification in project management, studying part-time online. Earn an accredited qualification in project management and take your career to the next level. MSc Project Management is accredited by the Association for Project Management (APM). Learn to deliver the financial and operational success of projects in any industry. Use this qualification to upskill, change direction or kick start your career in project management. Studying flexibly, with no need for a career break, you’ll learn from industry professionals who’ve been there and done it. You’ll build the skills, confidence and experience you need to lead complex projects to success. You’ll train in a range of areas, including:

  • project planning
  • budgets and controls
  • quality and risk management
  • commercial and contractual issues.

Modules

Teaching is delivered through MyAberdeen, our online Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). It holds all the materials, tools and support you’ll need in your studies. You’ll work through nine 15-credit courses, a 15-credit group project and a 30-credit individual project to gain your MSc. You can start your studies in September or January and progress at a pace that suits you. Typically, it takes 24 months to complete the MSc part-time. To study part-time, we recommend you take no more than 30 credits per term. You can take breaks between courses, as long as you complete your studies within six years.

Assessment method

This degree is assessed online. We’ll use a range of online assessment methods throughout your studies. These may include: written coursework, online tests, reports and projects.

This distance learning MSc in Project Management is delivered flexibly, 100% online. You can learn with us anywhere in the world, no student visa required, and set your study hours to suit you.

Entry requirements

You can apply for this MSc if you have: a degree in any subject; or alternative qualifications and relevant work experience in a project environment. All applications are considered on an individual basis. If you do not meet these entry requirements, or are not ready to commit to a full Masters, you may be able to use our online short courses as a route into this degree.

To study for a postgraduate degree at the University of Aberdeen it is essential that you can speak, understand, read, and write academic English fluently. These skills will allow you to understand lectures, produce high standards of written work, and perform well in examinations. We can assess your English language proficiency through a variety of means: through your nationality, through the qualifications you gained in high school, through the degree you undertook or are undertaking at university, or through a recognised English language test. Postgraduate Standard requirements are used by the Schools of Biological Sciences; Engineering; Geosciences; Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition; Natural and Computing Sciences; and Psychology. Please note certification must be within the two years prior to commencement of your course, unless otherwise stated.

Additional fee information

This indicative cost is based on 180 credits of study over two years, starting in September 2024. The fee quoted above is based on you starting your studies with us in the 2024/25 academic year. We have confirmed that our fees will rise by 5% for the 2025/26 academic year. Our indicative cost includes a 5% fee rise each year. This is a pay-as-you-go degree. You do not have to pay the full tuition fee upfront. You can spread the cost and pay as you go, term by term. You decide how many credits to study for each term. At the start of term, you pay only for the credits you’re taking that term. This gives you control over your costs and workload for each term of your degree.
