Course summary
This two-year part time Professional Graduate Certificate in Education or Professional Certificate in Education is validated by the University of Huddersfield. The course will take place from 1.30-5.15pm on a Monday evening at the Ware campus Take on one of our ever-popular Teacher Training courses to support you on the road to a rewarding and fulfilling career with many perks and benefits. This is a two-year, part-time course which leads to an initial teaching qualification for those who teach or intend to teach in the education and training sector. This course is suitable for those interested in teaching anyone aged 14 and over, this course is not for primary. What makes Teacher Training at HRC special?

Modules
We will help you learn a wide range of skills that will support you to work in the teaching industry, including how to:
- Undertake group learning activities to develop your knowledge and understanding of teaching in the education and training sector
- Complete assignments linked to the programme's themes
- Plan and deliver teaching and learning (150 hours minimum over the 2 years)
- Complete wider reading and research
- Teach competently within your subject specialist area
- Reflect critically on a range of professional issues and practices
- Take responsibility for identifying your own continuing professional development
Assessment method
You will be assessed by completing assignments which are submitted at the end of each semester (there are two semesters per year). You will also complete a practical teaching folder which shows evidence of your ongoing practice, including teaching observations and a professional development record.

Professional Graduate Certificate in Education A Degree (at least 2.2) or above Level 3 or above in your subject specialism including a level 3 SEND qualification if you work in a SEND setting (Gateway Qualifications Level 4 Certificate or NCFE Cache Level 3 Award in supporting Individuals with Learning Disabilities) 100 hours teaching practice over two years - confirmation of teaching practice is required prior to enrolment A Subject Specialist Mentor with a Level 5 Teaching Qualification and at least three years' experience as a teacher/lecturer Basic IT competency as assignments need to be typed A full level 2 English (Lang) and Maths qualification are desirable as these are a requirement for QTLS and most employers GCSE English (Lang) and Maths will be mandatory entry requirements from September 2024 onwards Professional Certificate in Education Level 3 or above qualification in a relevant subject A level 3 or above in your subject specialism including a level 3 SEND qualification if you work in a SEND setting (Gateway Qualifications Level 4 Certificate or NCFE Cache Level 3 Award in supporting Individuals with Learning Disabilities) 100 hours teaching practice over two years - confirmation of teaching practice is required prior to enrolment A Subject Specialist Mentor with a Level 5 Teaching Qualification and at least three years' experience as a teacher/lecturer Basic IT competency as assignments need to be typed A full level 2 English (Lang) and Maths qualification are desirable as these are a requirement for QTLS and most employers GCSE English (Lang) and Maths will be mandatory entry requirements from September 2024 onwards.
