Course summary
Supervision for MPhil/PhD research in English Literature is offered across a wide range of areas with particular strengths in Medieval, Early Modern, Eighteenth-Century, Victorian, and Modern, and Contemporary Literature and in Childhood in Literature and Crime Fiction.
Assessment method
For an MPhil the students are required to demonstrate that they can conduct an original investigation, test ideas (those of their own and others) and understand the relationship between the topic investigated and the wider field of knowledge. For a PhD, in addition to the above, the student's thesis should also make an original contribution to knowledge or understanding in their field of study.
Entry requirements
A relevant undergraduate degree 1st or 2.1 and strong academic references.
