The Reid School of Music offers an exciting research environment that combines the theory, history, composition and practice of music with the scientific study of sound. Composition allows you to explore your creative language and horizons in relationship to contemporary compositional styles and challenges. Your creative work is developed and guided through supervision. There are no stylistic preferences and all contemporary styles are encouraged, including the use of new technologies. Whatever your compositional background, our PhD in Musical Composition develops your creative voice and skills across an extensive period of time, all under the expert guidance of leading figures in composition and sound design.
