Course summary

Applied Anatomy at the University of Bristol teaches a thorough understanding of human and veterinary anatomy. Through hands-on, practical teaching, including some dissection, you will explore the principles of comparative anatomy and the structure of the major mammalian body systems. As the programme progresses you will develop an understanding of the principles of comparative anatomy, and structures of the major body systems, through functional, applied and clinical lenses. Dissection opportunities will give depth and nuance to your anatomical knowledge, and you will develop skills in research, problem-solving and dealing with uncertainty through expert-led discussions of the latest anatomical research. In the final year, you will pull these threads together, designing your own seminar session, exploring the pedagogy of anatomy, and planning and then completing an independent research project with support from expert supervisors A personal and professional development theme runs through the course and equips you with essential discipline-specific and transferable skills for future employment. Applied Anatomy MSci graduates are suited to a wide range of career paths including research, professions allied to health, journalism, and education.
