Modules

This degree has three stages. In Stage 1 you will encounter a variety of different times and places and engage with some fascinating people, art works, ideas and stories. This broad foundation will help you develop the skills and the confident, open approach you need to tackle more specialist modules at Stages 2 and 3. At Stage 2, you’ll investigate what religion is, and how and why religion is studied. Looking at Christianity, Hinduism and Islam, as well as various indigenous religious traditions, you'll explore the social, cultural, geographical and historical contexts of religion as well as issues of race and religious change. You will complete the stage with a second module chosen from a wide choice of arts and humanities modules. At Stage 3 you’ll focus on the intricate connections between religion and controversial issues, including politics, tradition, gender, multiculturalism, animism, atheism, violence, sex and capitalism. You will complete your degree with a second module chosen from a wide range of arts and humanities modules.
