Designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills to thrive as an Indie Games Developer, this programme will enable you to establish your own studio, secure employment within the games sector, or pursue further study. You will have access to four industry standard PC gaming labs with facilities including; 86 game ready high spec PC’s, 3D printing, green screen, sound recording suite, Wacom Sintiqs, and high end cameras and drones used for 3D scanning. You are well supported with cutting edge industry software including Unreal Engine, Maya, Blender, Marmoset, Zbrush, Substance Suite, and more. This course is taught at our Rochdale campus, located in the Rochdale Town Centre of Greater Manchester.

Modules

You will focus on the following modules: Full Game Production Part 1 – 30 Credit points Full Game Production Part 2 – 30 Credit points Independent Specialist Skill – 30 Credit points Independent Research Project – 30 Credit points

Assessment method

These modules will be assessed through presentations, practical assignments, discussions, reports, essays, and exams. How the course is delivered: The course is built around a series of practical assignments, which encourage you to investigate the tasks and processes of independent game development. You’ll develop the knowledge to undertake these assignments through a mixture of lectures, workshops, seminars, and self-study activities. As well as your regular timetable, you’ll be expected to undertake at least an equivalent amount of self-study, which can be done either on campus, at home, or a combination of both.
