Entry requirements

Academic requirements A degree in a science or engineering related subject or, exceptionally, with at least seven years’ experience. If you are applying for entry to the MSc in EOE through the experiential route, then up to three successful completions of EOE modules as stand-alone accredited short courses can be used as part of the case to provide supporting evidence of academic ability for entry onto the MSc in EOE. This programme is accredited as a programme of further learning for CEng registration. When presented together with a CEng-accredited bachelor's programme, the educational requirements for CEng registration will be met in full. Students who do not have a first degree should contact the relevant institute directly for further details on whether they meet the requirements. To study for a formal award with us you will need to demonstrate that you can communicate effectively in English in an academic environment prior to the start of the course. Most applicants meet our English language requirements by having previously obtained a higher education level qualification from a UK university. Applicants without UK qualifications can usually meet the English requirement through employment in the UK (a minimum of 5 years continuous employment immediately prior to the start of the course is required), providing you can supply a reference from your current employer which explicitly confirms you are able to communicate effectively in English. Full details of how you can meet our requirements can be found on our English language requirements page. Apprenticeship requirements As part of all Higher-Level Apprenticeships in England (this includes all apprenticeship provision at Cranfield University), it is a requirement by the Education and Skills Funding Agency that an apprentice holds or achieves an approved level 2 qualification in Mathematics and English before they can successfully complete the apprenticeship. Such evidence can include GCSE/O Level grade C/4 or higher. Please see list for details of acceptable qualifications - List of acceptable qualifications, under tab Level_3_Apprenticeships. Please note that Degree certificates (unless the words 'Mathematics' or 'English' are in the title) and secure English language tests, like IELTS, are not deemed acceptable by the Education and Skills Funding Agency. Security clearance for Shrivenham Please visit our security clearance page for further information. All applicants to courses that are wholly or partially delivered at Shrivenham must complete the BPSS (HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard V4 April 2014) prior to registration on the course or must already hold a security clearance to this level or higher. Your application and BPSS clearance application will be shared during the application process with the MOD who have ultimate discretion over whether to admit applicants to the Shrivenham site. This information will be returned by the MOD to Cranfield University after checks are completed and no copies will be retained by the MOD. BPSS checks may involve confirmation of the following: Identity (e.g. Photo ID) Nationality and Immigration Status Employment/Academic History (covering the past 3 years) Criminal record (unspent convictions only) Additionally, applicants are required to give a reasonable account of any significant periods (6 months or more in the past 3 years) of time spent abroad. This may be revised from time to time dependent on national security requirements. For more details, please consult the BPSS Guidance. It will take additional time to process your BPSS clearance application once you have completed your course application. Inability to access the Shrivenham site as a result of failure to meet security clearance requirements will result in a withdrawal of offer, or, if already registered, a termination of registration.
