Course summary

Are you interested in gaining a Project Management Masters that is highly valued by employers and applicable to a range of industries? This APM accredited course will give you project management skills that are widely transferable. Project management offers excellent starting salaries for those entering the profession with prospects of enjoying salaries between £20,000 and £27,500 for those aged 24 and under. With career progression and experience this can rise up to and in excess of £70,000. The average (median) project management salary, as identified in a 2019 Salary and Market Trends Survey undertaken by the Association for Project Management (APM) is £47,500. The Masters course covers topics such as how to assess project feasibility, how to manage risks in projects, how to keep people working together, and how to develop a portfolio of projects. There’s no need to have completed previous studies in project management and we welcome applicants from a variety of academic backgrounds. The course is also available through distance learning or full-time with advanced practice. This MSc Project Management programme has successfully attained academic accreditation by the Association for Project Management (APM). The APM, through its academic accreditation process, assesses programmes and modules to help students and professionals choose the best education available in support of their project management careers. Our APM Academic Accreditation identifies that the MSc Project Management programme at Northumbria University is aligned to the APM Body of Knowledge, 6th edition.

Assessment method

Your tutors will use a variety of teaching methods, which may include lectures, seminars, problem-based workshops, case discussions, practical activities, group work and tutorials. Teaching is backed up by a well-designed support system that will underpin your learning journey. You will have access to a Guidance Tutor with whom you can discuss any academic issues. Extensive feedback from both tutors and peers is built into the course.


Entry requirements

A minimum of a 2:2 honours degree in any subject. Other subject qualifications, equivalent professional qualifications and/or relevant work experience will be considered on an individual basis.
