Would you like to study a course that focuses on skills to work in the film and television industry? This two year course is focused on practical experience and aims to prepare you for employment in the film and television industry. It offers theoretical and practical units in film and television, combined with a extensive range of teaching and learning methods that will enhance your knowledge and skill in creative media. You will develop an in-depth understanding of how the film industry is structured and learn you can develop a career in the this challenging, exciting and dynamic industry. You will have the opportunity to use a range of professional video, editing equipment and software to keep you a step ahead of the game. Special features of this programme include: • You can progress onto a final top-up year and achieve BSC (Top up) in Creative Media Technologies (University of Portsmouth) • Working on live assignment briefs and widen your career options in the media industry • Small group sizes ensure you get the support you need to succeed Themes include; Cinematography, Film & Television Practices, Television Broadcasting, Factual Programming, Career Development in the first year (HNC). Followed by Virtual Studio Production, Advanced Film & Television Practices, Advanced Editing & VFX, Moving Image Production and Advanced Career Development in you second year (HND). At the end of the course you will have the opportunity to celebrate your achievement with a full graduation ceremony.

Assessment method

You will be assessed through portfolio based course work and work experience. You will be able to select a method of recording creative development to suit your needs, usually in the form of digital or traditional sketchbook. Some outcomes may be assessed through professional pitch. You will be taught in a nurturing environment with lots of expert support from our experienced and industry qualified tutors. They will teach you through a blend of lectures, guest speakers, seminars, case studies as well as individual and group work.

Mature students would be considered without academic qualifications if they can demonstrate a strong creative portfolio or industry experience. All students need to show at interview the desire to succeed in a demanding and ever changing creative industry.
