Course summary
Undertaking a Masters course in Criminology at NTU provides you with an opportunity like no other to tailor your learning to suit your own area of interest - a choice you will make while you're studying with us. You'll be given the opportunity to study crime at an advanced and specialised level, and choose between one of three distinct pathways: Criminology Law Enforcement Cybercrime Upon joining the course, everyone starts on the MA Criminology. You don't have to make a choice about your pathway until the middle of the first semester. You'll learn from our subject experts who have extensive experience in academia and research, as well as in practice, with many having previous experience working in law enforcement and related fields, and this expertise is utilised extensively within the course. Alongside this, our network of relationships with range of employers across criminology, law enforcement and cybercrime ensures that you will gain extensive career-relevant knowledge and skills relating to established and emerging crime, and how the 'system' responds to them.
Modules
Core Modules (all routes) : Understanding Crime, Responding to Crime, Research Project Option Sets (depending on chosen Route) including modules such as Sentence Management in the Criminal Justice System, Intelligence, Surveillance & Investigation, Cybercrime, Leadership and Management in Law Enforcement, Cyberactivism, Digital Resistance and Information Warfare, Miscarriages of Justice, Transnational and Corporate Crime.
Assessment method
Assessment will be carried out through a combination of assessed essays (including reports, reflective reports), policy papers, presentations, case studies and a dissertation.
Entry requirements
An undergraduate degree equivalent to a UK undergraduate Honours degree (minimum 2.2). Applicants without such qualifications will be considered on an individual basis but will be required to demonstrate how their experiences and knowledge would enable them to study this course at Masters level in their personal statement.
