Course summary
About the Course The BA (Hons) Musical Theatre provides in-depth multi-disciplinary training shaped by current industry trends. Technique in singing, dance and acting, artistry and performance, work ethic, confidence and employability are areas of focus which will give you the tools required to succeed in meeting the demands of the profession. During the course, you can also select an option module to diversify your training and specialise in an area of interest. This is a crucial element of training as you are given the opportunity to explore your personal identity as an emerging creative artist. This course encourages independence, entrepreneurialism and innovation because these qualities will be required of any performer entering the contemporary performing arts industry. We don’t want you just to get work, we want you to make work. All learning is underpinned by regular mental and physical resilience classes; another key element of your training. Being a musical theatre performer today means you need a skillset that makes you unique. You also need a direct and extensive network and an innate understanding of the industry you will be working in. Alongside a high-end musical theatre training, we offer a program that develops complementary employability skills essential to a musical theatre performer in order to broaden work opportunities and connections. The course includes:

Assessment method
Assessment methods are varied and balanced to suit a wide range of students and may take practical, written, portfolio or other form. Students are given the opportunity to work collaboratively with those studying other music related disciplines, representative of the way in which the Music and wider Creative Industries also require collaboration. All written and portfolio assessments are submitted electronically by way of a Virtual Learning Environment and where possible, feedback is delivered in audio and/or video form, as well as written.

International applicants
BIMM University [or our partner Met Film School] welcomes applicants from countries that will require a student visa to study in the UK. Applicants must meet requirements set by UKVI. Please be aware that for our Brighton, Birmingham and Manchester campuses, we are currently awaiting approval from UKVI that we can accept applicants at these locations. Should these not be approved, we will be able to offer an alternative campus subject to audition and academic requirements being met.

Audition
All applicants will be required to attend an in person audition day and demonstrate their ability in dance, drama and singing. We’re not expecting you to be proficient in all three – just a bit of star quality. You will be contacted to arrange this once your UCAS application has been received. If attendance in person is not possible, a Self-tape submission can be completed
English language requirements

We also accept the following qualifications: - ESOL Skills for Life Level B2 (Higher B2 on CEFR Scale) - IGCSE English Language (First Language) at C/4 or above - IGCSE English Language (Second Language) at B/3 or above - International Baccalaureate Standard English A at grade 4, OR Higher Level English B at grade 4. If you have studied a different English Language qualification, please send details to the admissions team and we will confirm if it can be accepted. Applicants that need a student visa to study will be required to have taken a UKVI approved qualification, achieving the minimum requirements. Full details can be viewed on our website. Applicants must have met the minimum requirement and be in receipt of results prior to enrolment.
