Course summary

Informed by research and led by practice, this course will see you explore contemporary three-dimensional design practice and gain a human insight into diverse design issues. As part of your course, you'll: • Engage in a reflective and iterative process of design development and learning through doing • Communicate design ideas through compelling outcomes • Develop transferable skills to work effectively as a designer in real-world settings Innovative research methods will allow you to gain insights into user needs, economic, environmental and ethical considerations, and industry capabilities to inform your design outcomes. The importance of iterative modelling processes (making, testing and improving) will enable you to question, challenge, refine and propose appropriate design solutions that will make a positive contribution to the world around us. This course recognises the breadth of professional and research-led opportunities within the subject area of 3D Design and supports a culture of discursive enquiry and debate. It aims to foster and nurture independent creative thinkers and will equip you with the necessary attributes to respond to the contemporary challenges undertaken by designers and researchers in the field. Hands-on experience In addition, you may have opportunities to collaborate with the Retail Institute and the Project Office, who would work with you to research and develop your ideas, ultimately helping you to bring your creations to life. Industry talks The INSIDE/OUT lecture series brings together some of the most exciting names from the fields of art, architecture, design, fashion, film, music, performing arts and beyond. Entry requirements

Applicants should either have at least a second class honours degree in the cognate subjects of Art or Design, at least a second class honours degree in a non-cognate subject supported by evidence of an aptitude for the subject applied for, or have equivalent experience or training, normally from within the work environment.


English language requirements

Please note the IELTS requirement for this course are IELTS 6.5 with no skill below 6.0.
