Course summary
This postgraduate programme in mediation and conflict resolution, provides a thorough, practical and exciting introduction to this developing area. Still the only course of its kind in the UK, the programme is rigorous and multidisciplinary, exposing you to a wide range of approaches as well as being taught by experts from across the UK. In response to popular demand, you can graduate with either an LLM or MSc. Students whose dissertations deal with significant legal or justice questions receive recognition via an LLM. Those who take a social science or empirical approach will graduate with an MSc. You can gain real-world experience through our innovative Mediation Clinic.
Modules
Compulsory classes: Theory and Principles of Conflict Resolution, Mediation in Practice, Critical Mediation Studies. Optional classes: Negotiation, Employment Mediation, Legal Process and the Law of Contract and Other Obligations. LLM/MSc Studies Only: Dissertation Enhanced Research Proposal, Professional Project (subject to application), Professional Internship (subject to application).
Assessment method
There are normally two assessments for each class – a practical and written assessment.
