Course summary

This accredited postgraduate course is for those wishing to further their careers in client organisations or consultancy. It gives aspiring professionals the opportunity to network with other ambitious and successful people within the construction and development industries. You'll focus on both practical and theoretical aspects of management in organisational and project-based contexts. Management subjects are supplemented by advanced financial appraisal techniques and finance, law is specifically related to construction and development. This course meets all Continuing Professional Development requirements and provides evidence for upgrading professional institution membership. The afternoon/evening study mode is suitable for even the busiest of construction professionals and is an excellent opportunity to network with other ambitious professionals and their organisations. How to apply

International applicants

You must have an English language qualification before starting a programme of study at London South Bank University. Acceptable qualifications include IELTS Level 6.5 or TOEFL 580.

Entry requirements

You should normally have one of the following qualifications: 2:1 degree or above in a discipline relevant to the Built Environment, for example Estate Management, Quantity or Building Surveying, Building, Architecture, Town Planning, Housing or related discipline; or Corporate membership of a professional body concerned with property or construction, for example, RICS, CIOB, RIBA, RTPI, CIOH, or other relevant body of equal standing; or A qualification regarded as equivalent to the above; or A good Honours degree in a non-construction subject and some experience in the construction and development fields. Applicants should normally have at least two years relevant experience since their initial academic or professional qualification. All students at entry to the course are expected to have competencies in building construction and the legal backgrounds necessary for professional practice in the UK. Evidence of professional study covering this field or of professional experience will be sought at the practice in the UK. Evidence of prior academic or professional study covering this field or of professional experience will be sought at the time of interview. Where deficiencies of knowledge exist, the successful completion of an agreed programme of directed study will be a condition of entry onto the course. **Part-time applicants** Part-time students normally will be currently employed in a surveying or construction related office. Applicants must normally be able to show that their employers support their application and that attendance on a regular basis will be possible over the duration of the course. Students who experience temporary unemployment during the duration of their studies will be permitted to continue with the course. **Interviews** Candidates who meet the entry requirements will not necessarily be called for interview. However, all applicants will be given the opportunity to discuss the programme of study with the Course Director prior to commencement. **Overseas applicants** Applicants are expected to have competency in spoken and written English. Oral presentations are an integral part of the course. Written English should be at the British Council/Cambridge IELTS Level 6.5 or above. **APEL** An applicant who is offered a place on the Course may seek credit for recent prior academic qualification or professional experience. The applicant should expect to demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Course Director and Module coordinator substantial relevant knowledge and skills at least equivalent to Level 7 as appropriate to those modules for which credit is being sought. Applications should be made before the commencement of the semester in which the particular modules are being offered.
