Course summary
Our most flexible Masters in digital engineering course yet. Transform the future of industry with our MSc in Digital Engineering. Our innovative MSc in Digital Engineering will equip you with advanced skills in digital skills, smart manufacturing, and Industry 5.0 technologies. Perfect for aspiring engineers and designers, it bridges cutting-edge technology with practical application. Gain hands-on experience with industry-leading tools and techniques, preparing you to drive efficiency and innovation in modern manufacturing. Whilst you will study four common modules, Research, Planning & Communications, Strategy & Management, Machine Learning and its application, Digital Engineering, and a 60 credit individual research project, two option sets are available that will allow you to pursue a route in either Applied AI or Design and Manufacturing. Option set one in Applied Artificial Intelligence for Engineering builds on the concepts of artificial intelligence and machine learning by creating new systems to provide intelligence. By developing new processing methods and data representations, we aim to establish the next big step in application of AI in the engineering world. The course considers what lies behind current technologies and equips you to think beyond them - to analyse the needs for future technologies and to create and shape them. Option set two specialises in Design and Manufacturing. Dive into technical expertise through Computer Aided Manufacturing and Product Design Engineering, where you’ll learn to create, test, and optimise designs for real-world applications. Choosing these modules will also emphasise the role of advanced digital technologies with modules in Machine Learning and its Application and Advanced Lean Manufacturing, preparing you to implement AI-driven solutions and streamline manufacturing processes. You’ll also engage with cutting-edge topics like Advanced Rapid Prototyping and Digital Engineering, gaining practical experience in state-of-the-art design and production techniques.
