Course summary

On this LLM, you’ll deepen your knowledge of legal principles, and gain an overview of the social, political, economic and cultural context in which you operate. You’ll learn from leading scholars with expertise in a wide range of areas. This allows you to explore a variety of approaches to law. Many of our staff not only research but also work with governments, international organisations and policy-makers. The course content reflects their latest insight and research. You’ll have the opportunity to tailor the degree to your interests by:

  • investigating a broad range of legal subject areas
  • taking core modules from one of our other on-campus LLM courses
  • selecting options from all of our on-campus LLM courses
  • choosing different pathways.
Throughout your studies, you’ll have the opportunity to network with professionals, practitioners and activists from around the world. The global perspective you’ll gain will help you formulate critical responses to legal issues. These networks will also be valuable after you graduate. We understand that deciding where and what to study is a very important decision. We’ll make all reasonable efforts to provide you with the courses, services and facilities described in this prospectus. However, if we need to make material changes, for example due to government or regulatory requirements, or unanticipated staff changes, we’ll let you know as soon as possible.

Entry requirements

You should normally have an upper second-class (2.1) undergraduate honours degree or above. Your qualification should be in law or a relevant subject such as economics, finance, international relations, political science, history, criminology, criminal justice or sociology. You may still be considered for the course if you have a qualification in a different subject area. You may also be considered for the course if you have other professional qualifications or experience of equivalent standing.
