Course summary

Our MSc Physiotherapy programme equips therapists and related healthcare professionals with the skills and knowledge to evaluate contemporary professional practice. You'll have the opportunity to enhance your clinical skills as part of your ongoing career development. Within a stimulating climate of evidence-based practice, we give you access to world-class facilities and a unique opportunity to learn from teaching staff. Many are internationally published and experts in their field.

Modules

You can undertake the generic award of MSc Physiotherapy, or select from one of two specialist pathways. These are:

  • Advancing Neuromusculoskeletal Practice
  • Neurorehabilitation
The two specialist pathways include a strong emphasis on evidence-based practice, physiotherapy theory, research and specialist interests. You'll learn about advancing clinical practice, critical reflection and research methods. For the MSc programme, you'll complete a dissertation project, developing your analytical and research skills. Each pathway offers a variety of optional modules to choose from. Module topics include: rehabilitation for pain management, advanced rehabilitation for long-term and complex conditions, contemporary practices in injection therapy. Entry requirements

2.2 (or international equivalent) in physiotherapy or a related subject. Applicants should have at least 2 years of clinical or health and social care experience. English language requirements. International students whose first language is not English are required to have the CELE pre-sessional course final assessment of ‘Pass with Merit’ before they can register on an academic programme. Please note that should you require registration to the HCPC the English Language proficiency standard required is IELTS score 6.5 (with at least 6.0 in each element) or the equivalent. International students will be required to have occupational health clearance, supply a declaration of good character and health form certified by their current employer and undertake governance training in order to undertake insight/observational visits.
