Course summary
Course Overview Our foundation year will introduce the basic principles of game art. You'll develop the creative and academic skills you need to study at university. Our foundation year is flexible and led by your interests. You can focus on game art or explore other subjects like game design, animation and more. This can help you discover your passion and choose what to study as a degree. You will complete a number of projects throughout the year. This mirrors the kind of project work you will do on your degree. It will help you to develop your creative thinking and academic skills. You can experiment with game art and create props, characters or environments. You can also try another subject to explore in greater depth. All of our art and media foundation year students study together, which creates a strong sense of community. You'll meet people with different interests, which you can use to inspire your own approach. Once you've successfully completed your foundation year, you can progress onto our Game Art BA (Hons) degree. You will learn to generate the look and feel of a game through research, concept art, ideation and world development. You'll also learn about the digital application of 2D and 3D art in games.
