Course summary

The BA (Hons) Music Business, Events and Marketing is designed for aspiring professionals looking to thrive in the business side of the music and wider creative industries. Combining key elements of Business, Events, and Marketing, this course equips you with the entrepreneurial mindset, industry knowledge, and practical skills needed to succeed in today’s fast - paced music landscape. Throughout this three-year degree, you will develop expertise in music commerce, event management, marketing, and digital branding, learning through a mix of real-world projects, industry placements, and hands on experiences.

  • Year One provides a foundation in industry structures, live music, artist management, marketing, and music publishing.
  • Year Two builds on business fundamentals, exploring financing, digital trends, social media, and optional specialisms such as record label management or touring.
  • Year Three focuses on innovation and entrepreneurship, culminating in a Final Project, alongside advanced topics in business ethics, music law, and audience engagement.
With strong connections to the industry, you will have access to internships, placements, and live industry projects, ensuring you graduate with real-world experience and professional networks. This course is ideal for those looking to launch businesses, self-manage their own projects, manage artists, run live events, or develop cutting-edge music marketing strategies.

Assessment method

Assessment methods are varied and balanced to suit a wide range of students and may take practical, written, portfolio or other form. Students are given the opportunity to work collaboratively with those studying other music related disciplines, representative of the way in which the Music and wider Creative Industries also require collaboration. All written and portfolio assessments are submitted electronically by way of a Virtual Learning Environment and where possible, feedback is delivered in audio and/or video form, as well as written. BIMM University welcomes applicants from International countries that will require a student visa to study in the UK. Applicants must meet requirements set by UKVI. Upon acceptance of an offer you may be required to attend a consultation with a member of the International Admissions team.

Interview

Once your application is received, you will be contacted by a member of the admissions team to arrange an interview. Full guidelines on what to prepare will be emailed to you.

Our auditions and interviews are conducted in a relaxed and supportive manner. They are as much about you assessing us and making sure BIMM Music Institute is the right place for you to study. The audition or interview also gives you another opportunity to learn more about the course you have applied for. Auditions, Interviews and Portfolio Submissions Depending on which course you choose, you may need to attend an audition, interview or submit a portfolio of work as part of your application.


English language requirements

We also accept the following qualifications: - ESOL Skills for Life Level B2 (Higher B2 on CEFR Scale) - IGCSE English Language (First Language) at C/4 or above - IGCSE English Language (Second Language) at B/3 or above - International Baccalaureate Standard English A at grade 4, OR Higher Level English B at grade 4. If you have studied a different English Language qualification, please send details to the admissions team and we will confirm if it can be accepted. Applicants that need a student visa to study will be required to have taken a UKVI approved qualification, achieving the minimum requirements. Full details can be viewed on our website. Applicants must have met the minimum requirement and be in receipt of results prior to enrolment.
