Throughout the course, students will explore key areas such as: ● Pre-production and planning: Mastering storytelling, scriptwriting, and project management techniques. ● Digital tools and technologies: Gaining proficiency in industry-standard software and equipment for film editing, visual effects, 3D modelling, animation, and game engines. ● Production techniques: Applying camera operation, lighting, sound design, or game mechanics and level design. ● Collaborative projects: Working with peers to create professional-quality films or games, mirroring real-world industry practices. ● Post-production: Fine-tuning digital assets with advanced editing, compositing, and rendering workflows. Students will apply their learning to real-world scenarios and projects, creating a portfolio of work that showcases their creative and technical abilities. Opportunities to collaborate with industry professionals, guest speakers, and live briefs provide valuable insights and networking experiences. Graduates of the FdSc Digital Production for Film and Games are well-prepared to advance into the workforce, build a freelance career, or progress to a full Honours degree, equipped with the technical expertise and creative vision to thrive in the fast-evolving media landscape. After completing the FDSc, students will be able to progress onto the top up in either Video Game Development or Film production, based on their area of specialism In 2024 we were awarded an exceptional 94% National Student Survey (NSS) rating. Every university in the UK takes part in the NSS, as do many colleges. This survey gathers students’ opinions on the quality of their courses which helps to inform prospective students’ choices and provide data that supports universities and colleges to improve the student experience. East Sussex College University Courses is very proud of our extremely high score. The NSS is managed by the OfS on behalf of the UK funding and regulatory bodies.
