Course summary

In choosing Coleg Cambria’s Foundation Degree/ BSc Honours Degree in Applied Business Management (developed and accredited by Swansea University) you will study a broad spectrum of business and management topics (such as marketing, operations management, finance, accounting, strategy and human resource management). All modules are taught by leading business tutors who have a breadth of industrial and academic knowledge and regularly train business leaders from across Wales. Coleg Cambria has outstanding connections with many businesses and business leaders throughout North Wales, with guest business speakers, presentations and opportunities to network. We are an experienced provider of apprenticeship routes, including for business management. You will study in our new HE Business Management Centre. This programme is undertaken in association with Swansea University School of Management and there are opportunities to access the global WorldSkills program, supporting and bringing together students across 80 countries via competitions-based training, assessment and benchmarking. Ultimately the qualification will be delivered by Coleg Cambria with degree qualification graduations awarded by Swansea University, taking place in the Bay Campus. Many of our students graduate to workplace promotions and improved career prospects, we have an active alumni all of who would highly recommend the course, not least for the opportunities it has given them, but the access to like minded people, excellent education all underpinned by a deeper understanding of their chosen career paths.

Modules

You will study 4 modules in year 1 (Finance for Non Finance Managers, Marketing, Human Resource Management and Operations Management 1), and a further 4 in year 2 (Business Management 1, Operations Management 2, Organisational Project 1 and Leadership & International Human Resource Management). Prince2 Foundation is also offered as an optional extra on year 2; this project management qualification is a valuable asset to employers. Successful completion of all modules in Years 1 and 2 will enable students to achieve a Foundation Degree (the FdSc in Applied Business Management). Completion of the FdSc will allow progression onto the BSc Applied Business Management in Year 3 where you will study 3 modules (Business Management 2, Leadership and Organisational Project 2).

Assessment method

Most modules are assessed through reports and class tests, but projects, bibliographic exercises, reflective diaries, posters, and presentations may also be utilised.
