About this course This course is specifically designed for learners whose first language is not English. You'll get a personalised learning plan and dedicated one-to-one support from your tutor every step of the way. BTEC’s Higher National qualifications are work-related qualifications for students taking their first steps into employment, or for those already in employment and seeking career development opportunities. BTEC’s provide progression into the workplace either directly or via study at university and are also designed to meet employer’s needs. Therefore, BTEC Higher National qualifications are widely recognised by industry and higher education as the principal vocational qualification The purpose of BTEC Higher Nationals in Business is to develop students as professional, self-reflecting individuals able to meet the demands of employers in the business sector and adapt to a constantly changing world. The qualifications aim to widen access to higher education and enhance the career prospects of those who undertake them. The BTEC Higher National qualifications in Business are aimed at students wanting to continue their education through applied learning. Higher Nationals provide a wide-ranging study of the business sector and are designed for students who wish to pursue or advance their career in business. In addition to the knowledge, understanding and skills that underpin the study of the business sector, BTEC Higher Nationals in Business give students experience of the breadth and depth of the sector that will prepare them for further study or training. Course delivery This course is a blended learning course. There will be some delivery in college and some online. Onsite delivery will take place in Gloucester on a Tuesday or Wednesday (TBC) and online on a Saturday. You will still have access to support from your tutors and access to the college learning resource. Assessment activities provide major opportunities for learning, including: Group and individual work Peer Feedback Individual and group presentations Essay, evaluations and assignments All assessments are delivered through a standard system, which makes the context and the assessment criteria clear. There are assessment weeks. Grades accumulate over the year and the External Examiner samples student work and grades. An annual Exam Board finalises all student grades.
