OVERVIEW Are you ready to step into the world of creativity and innovation? Working within our state-of-the-art prosthetics studios alongside specialists within the field, you will have the opportunity to learn the practical skills required for character and creature prosthetics using traditional sculpting and moulding techniques and the latest 3D digital technologies to achieve sustainable and creative solutions. It is designed for students who are passionate about the entertainment industry, equipping them with a diverse skill set to excel in prosthetics design and the creation of intricate prosthetics, props and models used in film, television, theatre, events and other creative ventures. This creative course introduces key concepts and the theoretical underpinning associated with prosthetics design, construction, application and building a professional portfolio. You will work with industry standard prosthetic materials, techniques and digital software such as Photoshop, ZBrush and 3D rendering technologies, all while developing an in-depth understanding of entrepreneurship and business strategies to succeed. Throughout the programme, there is emphasis on portfolio development tailored towards a chosen area of specialism to ensure that you are fully prepared to enter the industry and stand out amongst others. Assessment method

Assessment Estimated breakdown of assessment for this course: Coursework – 70% Practical assessment – 20% Written exams - 10% The demonstration of practical ability will be assessed through a range of coursework and practical assessment methods. Additional fee information

UK: If you are a UK student enrolling on a Foundation Degree or a BA/BSc at University College Birmingham, your fee for this academic year will be £9,250. A half year tuition fee is £4625. This is a yearly fee, and will increase with inflation in subsequent years (in line with the government’s permitted rise). If you are an English student studying your first higher education qualification, you can apply for a tuition fee loan from the Student Loans Company. You will not start repaying this loan until you leave the course and are earning over £25,000 a year. If you live in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, you should apply to Student Finance Wales, Student Finance Northern Ireland, or SAAS.
