Studying BA (Hons) Politics will help you to understand current events, how change happens, and how you can be part of it. This course focusses on the dynamic power relations between individuals, social groups, and nations – making it one of the most exciting ways to unravel why the world works the way it does. You’ll study a wide range of social and public policy areas and explore fundamental issues that affect communities in the UK and beyond, including emancipatory political thought and theory, international politics, digital politics, and ‘issue’ politics such as environmentalism and climate change. You’ll be supported by passionate staff who bring a wealth of expertise and diverse research approaches. As well as developing your academic skills, you’ll have opportunities to work with tutors and the wider community to produce original research with real-world impact. With a broad range of options to choose from, you’ll have the flexibility to focus on areas that truly interest you. In your final year, you’ll have the chance to engage with current academic debates and contemporary political developments. We place a heavy emphasis on employability and offer practical skills training, including advanced analytical approaches, that many employers seek.
