Course summary

Buildings are becoming ever more complex and there is a high demand for technically inspired graduates who understand new technologies. Building services professionals are at the forefront of innovation in architectural engineering, sustainability, energy efficiency, intelligent buildings and the latest building information modelling (BIM) software. BEng(Hons) Building Services Engineering will teach you how to analyse and design the mechanical and electrical engineering aspects of buildings. Learn from industry-experienced tutors and practising professionals who bring up-to-the-minute ideas from their active projects. Study environmental engineering, air and water systems, lighting, acoustics, electrical services, fire engineering, security engineering, IT systems and integrated smart technologies. Explore buildings from around Bristol and use them as case studies for energy and usability analysis. Assess buildings that inspire and inform your work on day trips. Take part in practical activities in our well-equipped teaching laboratories, where you'll work alongside students from different disciplines in an approach reflecting industry. Qualification requirements

Typical offers: GCSE: Grade C/4 in English and Mathematics, or equivalent Tariff points: 112 English Language Requirement: International and EU applicants are required to have a minimum overall IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0 with 5.5 in each component (or approved equivalent*). *The university accepts a large number of UK and International Qualifications in place of IELTS. You can find details of acceptable tests and the required grades you will need in our English Language section. Please visit our English language requirements page https://www.uwe.ac.uk/courses/applying/international-applications/english-language-requirements A-level subjects: Minimum Grade C or above in Mathematics. Plus any other A level subjects that total a minimum of 112 UCAS Tariff Points. EDEXCEL (BTEC) Diploma: One of the following BTEC Diplomas: Building Services Engineering; Construction and the Built Environment; Electrical/Electronic Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; or Operations and Maintenance Engineering. Must include Merit in one of the following units: Further Engineering Mathematics or Further Mathematics for Construction. Please list the units that you are taking in your application. Access: Achievement of the HE Diploma; to include 30 Level 3 credits at Merit including 15 in Mathematics. Please list the units that you are taking in your application. Baccalaureate IB: To include a minimum grade of 5 in higher level Mathematics. Irish Highers: H2 in Mathematics. T Levels: Grade C in A-Level Mathematics, in addition to your T Level qualification. The entry requirements provided, apply to admission into Year One of the five-year course. However, if you hold an HNC or HND in a relevant subject, you may be eligible for direct entry into Year Three, reducing the overall duration of the course to three years.
