Course summary
This vibrant course will inspire a considered and creative approach to fashion marketing. You will develop your own distinctive skills, underpinned by a broad understanding of the social, cultural, political, and ethical influences on this global industry. Explore the diverse range of evolving theories and practices that support fashion marketing. There are opportunities to develop yourself in areas such as PR and promotion, branding, advertising, visual merchandising, digital and social media marketing, content creation and trend forecasting. Theory and practical work are explored through team tasks and individual portfolio building using industry-standard equipment, Mac suites, and specialist software tools. Our students have the freedom to study the versatility of fashion marketing, working collaboratively with students on other courses such as Fashion Photography, Fashion Design, and Filmmaking. With digital technologies increasingly influencing the industry, you’ll investigate theories to help you improve existing and prospective ideas for marketing. You will employ your creative and lateral-thinking skills to map scenarios for the future of the industry. Our knowledgeable staff have a broad range of expertise and offer bespoke support to identify and amplify your talents. You will learn from visiting speakers from the industry and undertake live briefs, in order to develop the professional skills required by the sector.
Modules
Year one — You will study multiple marketing and branding theories, concepts, processes, and creative communication tools employed by the industry, including historical contexts, ethics and sustainability in fashion. You will start developing your own voice, ideas and creative practice through individual and group projects. Research skills, lateral thinking and creative imagination are central to all units. Year two — You further develop your skills with a specific focus on future concepts and innovative, creative marketing strategies. Exploration of applied theories to online applications, social media platforms and multi-platform branding will further enhance your approach to digital marketing. Creative concept development will be supported through the study of consumers’ ever changing relationship with brands and forecasting of ideas and scenarios for the future of the industry. Live projects and collaborative projects will expand your external contacts and enhance your professionalism, confidence, experience and employability. Year three — You will consolidate your in-depth knowledge of developing fashion marketing strategies and campaigns to produce a creative and professional portfolio. The self-directed final year takes a holistic approach through a body of research that is supported by critical writing. This culminates in the realisation of a graduate portfolio which reflects your individual philosophy and career aspirations as a fashion marketing professional.

Leeds Arts University encourages applications from talented and motivated students. The University uses a wide range of methods to assess applications, these can include: • personal statement • predicted grades • contextual information • reference • examples of your work • digital auditions or interview If you are successful in your application an offer will be made to you, if conditional we will ask for between 104 and 120 UCAS tariff points from any combination of A Levels/T Level/Extended Diploma/Foundation Diploma. The expected subjects will depend on the course you are applying for. All applicants must have GCSE English Language or Literature at Grade 4/Grade C or above, or English Functional Skills Level 2 at Pass. Applicants for this course do not need to submit examples of work. - English You’ll need to have passed GCSE English Language or English Literature at Grade 4/Grade C or above, or English Functional Skills Level 2 at Pass. For mature students, an Access to Higher Education qualification in art and design will also be acceptable to demonstrate English language ability. Currently studying a Foundation Diploma in Art & Design? If you are currently studying a Foundation Diploma in Art & Design, you will have already achieved level 3 qualifications which carry UCAS tariff points. When considering your application, we will, collate your achieved tariff points with those you are predicted. You will also need a GCSE grade 4/ Grade C or above in English Language or English Literature or equivalent, or Functional Skills level 2 at a pass.
