Course summary
Be part of a supportive midwifery community where we’ll help you on your journey to becoming a competent, compassionate and caring midwife. You'll develop your knowledge, practical, interpersonal and leadership skills while working closely with women and their families - through all the stages of pregnancy, birth and beyond. Clinical placements will support you in developing your midwifery skills in practice. You'll follow several women's pregnancy journeys and provide continuity of care through your case-holding experience. You will be taught by our expert staff who have been recognised both locally and internationally for their teaching excellence. Our teaching is research-led and, as an established provider of midwifery education, we work in partnership with four diverse NHS Trusts. This offers you a wealth of different clinical learning experiences across the maternity services. Upon successful completion of the course, you will be eligible to register as a midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Council. Why choose this course? Clinical Experience • Start strong from day one – Begin hands-on clinical midwifery skills in antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care from your very first week. • Learn in real NHS settings – Experience placements in at least two of our four NHS trust partners, giving you a broad and diverse understanding of midwifery practice. • Graduate career-ready – Our course leads to eligibility for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), so you can start your career as a qualified midwife upon completion of the programme. • UNICEF Baby Friendly accredited – Study on a programme fully accredited by the UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative, reflecting our commitment to high standards in maternal and infant care. • NIPE training included – Gain in-depth experience of the Newborn and Infant Physical Examination (NIPE), comparable to postgraduate-level training. Teaching and Learning • Modern facilities and simulation suites – Practise your skills in clinical skills suite before stepping into real-world placements. • Learn from expert educators – Be taught by experienced midwives and researchers who are passionate about shaping the future of maternity care. • Support every step of the way – Access a wide range of academic and pastoral support tailored to help you succeed in both theory and practice. • Be part of a proud tradition – Join a well-established and respected midwifery programme with a strong reputation for excellence in education and clinical training. • Make a real difference – Be part of a profession that supports women and families through one of life’s most important journeys.
